Planning Applications

Fairlight Hotel Application - December 2009

The following letter has been sent to Stephen Thorne, Head of Planning and Regeneration Services, Poole Council.

"Dear Stephen,

Planning Application No APP/09/01236/F
(The old Fairlight Hotel site.)
19 & 19a Moor Road, 1, 1a, & 1b Golf Links Road, Broadstone ( Demolish existing buildings and erect a Care Home, Class C2 )

Planning Committee 10th December

There were some serious flaws in the Planning Process regarding this application.

I understand that Cllr Brooke has made formal protest regarding this issue ( letters Bournemouth Daily Echo,15th December )

There are certainly serious concerns regarding the the Planning Committee's decision, Sir Michael Pitt ( January 2009,and the Audit Commission in 2008 ) recommended that no Cabinet member should sit on the Planning Committee. In a clear breach of those recommendations the Leader of the Council sat on the committee and also urged all other members to support the application. Sufficient grounds, I suggest, for a Judicial Review. The Broadstone Residents Association shares those concerns and fully supports Cllr Brooke in his formal protest.

Can we please place this matter on the Agenda for our next meeting in January.

Please be advised that a number of Broadstone residents are so concerned that they are seriously considering submitting an application for a Judicial Review, and have asked the Broadstone Residents Association for their support.

Sincerely

Roy Godfrey, Chairman, Broadstone Residents Association. "
