Richard Nicholson from Leisure Services put a presentation to the Area Committee in November and after gaining the approval of the Councillors, subject to the usual application and public consultation, on 1st December Leisure Services put in the application for reinstating the view from the War Memorial as follows -

"Proposing to fell approx. 100 stems of Laurel, Holly, Evergreen Oak and Rhododendron growing on the wooded slope to the south of the War Memorial on Broadstone Recreation Ground and the cricket pitch."

It is hoped the work will take place before the 2010 nesting season.

More news as it unfolds.
